Capacity bounds for Cooperative diversity
نویسنده
چکیده
In a cooperative diversity network users cooperate on transmitting each others’ messages; to some extend nodes therefore collectively act as an antenna array. In this paper we derive upper and lower bounds for the information theoretic capacity of 4 node ad-hoc networks with two transmitters and two receivers using cooperative diversity. For comparison, in an N user channel with M antennas at the base station, the high SNR ergodic sum capacity is C ∼ min{N,M} log(SNR)+O(1) in Rayleigh fading. One question considered is if cooperative diversity gives the same kind of multiplicative gain, and the answer is negative at least in the asynchronous case, although if the cooperating nodes are reasonably close together a multiplicative gain is possible up to quite high SNR. Finally, it appears that cooperation among receivers is more efficient and less complex than cooperation among transmitters.

Capacity Bounds and Code Designs for Cooperative Diversity
Cooperative diversity is a novel technique for conveying information in wireless networks, where closely located single-antenna network nodes cooperatively transmit and/or receive by forming virtual antenna arrays. For the simplest cooperative setup with two transmitters and two receivers, we first present the latest advances made in determining the theoretical capacity bounds and point out the...

متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Wireless Cooperative Networks with Iterative Incremental Relay Selection
In this paper, an iterative incremental relay selection (IIRS) scheme is considered for wireless cooperative networks in order to increase the reliability of transmission. Different from the conventional incremental relay selection which incrementally selects a best relay for only one iteration; the IIRS scheme iteratively applies the incremental relaying and relay selection processes. To evalu...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Decode-and-Forward Protocols in Unidirectional and Bidirectional Cooperative Diversity Networks
Cooperative communications have the ability to induce spatial diversity, increase channel capacity, and attain broader cell coverage with single-antenna terminals. This thesis focuses on the performance study of both unidirectional and bidirectional cooperative diversity networks employing the decode-and-forward (DF) protocol. For the unidirectional cooperative diversity network, we study the a...
متن کاملOn the Symmetric Gaussian Interference Channel with Partial Unidirectional Cooperation
A two-user symmetric Gaussian Interference Channel (IC) is considered in which a noiseless unidirectional link connects one encoder to the other. Having a constant capacity, the additional link provides partial cooperation between the encoders. It is shown that the available cooperation can dramatically increase the sum-capacity of the channel. This fact is proved based on comparison of propose...
